CARSON, Calif. -- The Portland Timbers extended their unbeaten run to 14 matches with a 0-0 over the LA Galaxy in the newly rebranded StubHub Center.
Robbie Rogers made his first MLS start since Sept. 28, 2011. After a brief stint in Europe, the winger stepped away from the game when he disclosed his sexual orientation earlier in the year. Following a series of substitute appearances with the Galaxy as he regained fitness, Wednesday's match marked his first start.
The best chance of a sluggish match came before the hour mark. Rogers headed a Tommy Meyer ball off the post with former Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts flailing.
Rogers left the match with nearly 20 minutes remaining. Fresh signing Pablo Mastroeni saw the final few minutes of the game with his new club, following a trade to LA from the Colorado Rapids.
