thumbnail Hello,

Goal ranks the men on show as the United States hosted Belgium in Cleveland and the Europeans grabbed a win.

United States

TIM HOWARD
Did well to close down Lukaku on Belgium's opening goal but could do nothing about Mirallas' wonderful chip to follow up.

3

GEOFF CAMERON
Should have done better tracking Mirallas for the opener, but made up for his error with his first international goal. Had a difficult night at right back.

2

CLARENCE GOODSON
Was ineffective against a talented group of Belgian attackers. The improvement in the defense after his removal was noticeable.

1.5

OMAR GONZALEZ
Not a great night from the Galaxy man. Was caught watching for Belgium's opener, and his failure to clear handed the visitors their second.

1.5

DAMARCUS BEASLEY
Nearly gave away a penalty on the occasion of his 100th cap with a handball in the penalty area that was missed by the referee. Was mostly equal to a tough task on the left flank.

2.5

JERMAINE JONES
Failed to shut down Defour as he fed Benteke for the fourth. Had a nice key pass late on. A rough job trying to corral the enthusiastic Belgian midfielders.

2

GRAHAM ZUSI
Was barely there as the American midfield was overmatched.
2

SACHA KLJESTAN
Was anonymous in a midfield overrun by Belgians.

2

BRAD DAVIS
Seemed off the pace against a team of Belgium's caliber and never really threatened. His best moment was a blocked effort at the edge of the penalty area that he waited too long to shoot.

2

CLINT DEMPSEY
His header set up Geoff Cameron's goal, and his converted penalty continued his fine run of international form. The most important player for the USA right now.

4

JOZY ALTIDORE
Scuffed a great chance early in the game, and was largely anonymous until his halftime exit.
1

EDDIE JOHNSON
Some decent flashes coming on as a sub, including a cross with which Terrence Boyd should have done better. Won a penalty.

2

BRAD GUZAN
Couldn't do much about any of the goals he conceded.
2

TRRENCE BOYD
Came on as a sub and had an immediate impact - in exactly the wrong way. Failed to clear the ball which led to Belgium's third goal.

1.5

MATT BESLER
Came on as a second-half sub and immediately improved a leaky back line. Has to be pushing for a permanent place in the defense.

2.5

BRAD EVANS
Came on as a second-half sub. Nearly injured himself tying to get on the end of an Eddie Johnson cross.

2

STUART HOLDEN
Had a few moments where it seemed like the Stu Holden of old was aching to emerge. His return is encouraging for the United States

3

Belgium

SIMON MIGNOLET
Caught on his near post as Cameron waited at the far side, but otherwise, was commanding in the air.
3

TOBY ALDERWEIRELD
Looked solid most of the game and was unlucky to give away a penalty when Johnson's cross struck his arm.
3

THOMAS VERMAELEN
Went off early as an injury precaution.
2.5

VINCENT KOMPANY
Lost track of Dempsey as the Tottenham man headed across goal to set up Cameron.
2.5

JAN VERTONGHEN
Had an excellent game shutting down his flank. Was muscled out by Cameron, possibly fouled, on the USA's equalizer.

3

MAROUANE FELLAINI
Showed his aerial threat with a powerful header to score Belgium's third.

3

STEVEN DEFOUR
A fantastic pass to Benteke over the top for the forward's second goal, and part of a midfield that overpowered the Americans for long stretches of the game.
3.5

MOUSSA DEMBELE
Subbed out for Pocognoli in the first half as an injury precaution.
2.5

KEVIN MIRALLES
Did well to follow up Lukau's attempt on goal, and even better to chip Everton teammate Howard.
3.5

KEVIN DE BRUYNE
A constant danger with his dribbling in the first, and pounced on Omar Gonzalez's mistake to give Benteke an easy finish. Picked up another assist on Fellaini's goal.

4.5

ROMELU LUKAKU
A good run to create the chance for Mirallas' goal. Was caught ball-watching for Cameron's equalizer.

3

SEBASTIEN POCOGNOLI
Came on when Vermaelen picked up an injury and was part of a solid defensive unit.
2.5

CHRISTIAN BENTEKE
Man of the match. Was brought on in the first half for Dembele and impressed. He scored an easy goal past his Aston Villa teammate Guzan before getting a second on Defour's ball over the top.
4.5

DRIES MERTENS
Came on as a second-half sub.
2

TIMMY SIMONS
Came on for Defour and almost immediately picked up a yellow card.
2

THORGAN HAZARD
Came on as a second-half sub.
