The American right back has enjoyed a remarkable run at the Bundesliga side, and is now in the club's record book.
Cherundolo started in Saturday's match against Bayer Leverkusen, which was his 299th Bundesliga appearance for the club, breaking the mark Jurgen Bandura set from 1964 to 1974.
The 34-year-old originally joined Hannover at the end of the 1998–1999 season. The club was in the second division at the time, and Cherundolo helped it secure promotion following the 2001-02 campaign. It has been in the Bundesliga ever since. He was made team captain shortly before the start of the 2010–11 season.
Internationally, Cherundolo has 87 caps for the U.S. national team, and is still a part of Jurgen Klinsmann's set-up as the club looks to qualify for Brazil 2014.
