The U.S. soccer head will represent CONCACAF in the world governing organization's most powerful body.
"U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati has been elected to be a member of the #FIFA Executive Committee representing the North Zone," the Federation announced on Twitter on Friday afternoon.
Gulati will be one of three CONCACAF members on the powerful executive committee. Jeffrey Webb, president of CONCACAF and the Cayman Islands Football Association, represents the Caribbean region, while Guatemala's Rafael Saguero represents Central America.
The 53-year-old, a childhood immigrant from Allahabad, India, has been President of the United States Soccer Federation since 2006.
