Players from around the world are using Fieldoo.com to connect with agents and scouts as they look to join professional teams.
Phelan, who starred at Wake Forest before playing with North American professional clubs Toronto FC, New England Revolution and San Antonio Scorpions, has made quite a nice resume for himself so far. But what about all those talented players whose skills have gone unnoticed by clubs, scouts and agents?
Phelan believes that having a database of players and agents helps soccer players find the right homes, so it is clear to see why he has signed up for Fieldoo.com.
"Football is becoming more globalized than ever and there is so much talent that goes unseen," said Phelan, who spent last season in Finland's first division. "I think a centralized networking database of players and agents is a great idea and will help to put everyone on a level playing field.
"I also highlight the importance of networking because you can only play for so long. Life goes on after your playing career is over so it’s important to have connections to help transition into another career."
Phelan's isn't the only success story on Fieldoo.com. The website serves as the home base for players from around the world who are looking for opportunities at home or abroad. Take Olayode Ahmed, Maor Buzaglo and Demy de Zeeuw as examples.
Ahmed played on Nigeria's youth national teams, made his way to Plymouth, N.H., and now starts for the IUPUI Jaguars with the hope of one day turning pro. Buzaglo has played for Maccabi Tel aviv and the Israeli national team. And De Zeeuw, a Dutch international, plays for Anderlecht and recently tweeted his support for Fieldoo.com.
“Want to make a soccer transfer? Create a profile on Fieldoo, the LinkedIn for footballers!” he wrote.
