thumbnail Hello,

The Colorado defender was sent off for hitting the LA Galaxy midfielder in the face and has received an added punishment from the MLS Disciplinary Committee.

Drew Moor's rare lapse of judgment has cost him an extra game.

The Colorado Rapids defender was suspended an additional game on top of the typical red card punishment and fined an undisclosed amount for hitting LA Galaxy midfielder Marcelo Sarvas in the face in the second half of the teams' matchup Saturday night. The red card the typically level-headed Moor received for the play was just the second of his career, which is in its ninth season.

Moor, who was the only field player to play every minute in every regular season game last year, will miss a total of two matches for the incident, and his absence could not come at a worse time for a team facing an injury crisis.

The club announced Thursday that Ecuadorian center back Diego Calderon requires knee surgery and it has not yet been determined how much time he will miss. Captain Pablo Mastroeni will miss the next two weeks with a hamstring strain, starting goalkeeper Matt Pickens is in the midst of his 3-to-4-month comeback from a broken forearm and midfield attacking catalysts Martin Rivero and Jaime Castrillon are also facing long-term injuries.

Moor will miss games against a pair of Western Conference foes -- the Portland Timbers on Saturday and rival Real Salt Lake on April 6 -- while he serves his ban.
