Jermaine Jones ruled out for the USA against Mexico

The midfielder tweeted that he is headed back to Germany after picking up an injury and will miss the match against Mexico on Tuesday.
USA midfielder Jermaine Jones will miss out on the team's World Cup qualifier in Mexico on Tuesday. The U.S. federation called the injury a sprained left ankle.

"Good luck for my boys at Azteca stadium on Tuesday! I am traveling home, my feet is too bad" the German-born midfielder tweeted on Sunday.

Jones, who played a big part in the USA's win over Costa Rica in the snow on Friday night, had a wound on his foot, a picture of which he posted on his Instagram account.

The USA roster, which was already heavily depleted through injury, does boast several options to replace Jones, with Maurice Edu and Kyle Beckerman having both received consistent playing time under Jurgen Klinsmann, and playing similar roles to the one played by Jones against Costa Rica.
