The U.S. international winger tallied for the second time in the competition as part of his club's rout of second-tier Varberg on Sunday.Alejandro Bedoya is getting warmed up quite nicely for Helsingborg's upcoming Allsvenskan league season in Sweden.
Bedoya scored in his second straight Swedish Cup match, tallying Helsingborg's fourth goal in a 5-0 dismantling of second-tier side Varberg in a Group 6 bout on Sunday. The win gives Helsingborg four points with one group game against fellow top-flight side Gefle remaining, and, because of the club's plus-five goal differential, a win would likely guarantee advancement to the final stages. The winners of each of the eight groups move on to the quarterfinals of the competition.
The U.S. international winger got on the board in the 79th minute Sunday, building off his goal in last weekend's 1-1 draw with second-tier club Assyriska, in which he worked a give-and-go and was the recipient of a pass to the right side of the box, where he finished in stride.
The three Swedish Cup matches act as a precursor to the league season, which begins for Bedoya and Helsingborg on March 31 at home against Djurgarden.
