thumbnail Hello,

The U.S. international midfielder has enjoyed success with the Belgian champion and will remain there for three more years.

U.S. national team midfielder Sacha Kljestan will remain at Anderlecht for at least the next three years, signing a contract extension with the Belgian champion through June 2016, the club announced on its official website Friday.

Kljestan left Major League Soccer side Chivas USA for Anderlecht in June 2010 and has become a mainstay in the lineup for Anderlecht for the past three seasons. He enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2011-12, helping the perennial Belgian power to another top-flight championship and a berth in the UEFA Champions League.

He parlayed that success into a recall from U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann for the Americans' triumph over Italy last February, and he has become more of a regular on Klinsmann's rosters, getting called in for October's World Cup qualifiers and Wednesday's match against Honduras.

This season, Kljestan has made 34 appearances in all competitions for Anderlecht and scored two goals, one of which came in a Champions League qualifying-round match. Anderlecht currently sits atop the table, leading Zulte-Waregem by six points. The club has not lost a league match since Oct. 27, a span of 12 matches.
