  • In the last World Cup qualifier between the two teams, Conor Casey scored twice in a 3-2 USA win in Honduras which clinched the Yanks a berth at South Africa 2010.
  • The last time these two teams met, Clint Dempsey scored in the 36th minute as the USA topped Honduras 1-0 in an October 2011 friendly in Miami.
  • The U.S. holds a 12-3-3 all-time record against Honduras in a series which dates back to 1965.
  • Both left back Emilio Izaguirre of Celtic and midfielder Andy Najar of Anderlecht were forced to pull out of the Honduras squad with injury.
