Terrence Boyd stayed hot for Rapid Vienna, scoring for the second straight game in the Austrian club's 3-2 loss to Mix Diskerud's Rosenborg in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
The goal, which was the 21-year-old Boyd's fourth in his last seven matches and 11th in all competitions this season, snapped a 1-1 draw in the 66th minute and temporarily put Rapid Vienna in the driver's seat. He tucked home a rebound of a parried shot for his third Europa League goal of the campaign.
Rosenborg battled back with goals in the 76th and 79th minutes in what amounted to a consolation game between two teams that had already been eliminated from contention for the knockout stage. Rapid Vienna fell to 0-5-0 in Europa League play and will look to salvage at least a point in its final European match of the season against Metalist Kharkiv on Dec. 6. Rosenborg won for the second time in Group K, but Bayer Leverkusen and Metalist Kharkiv are already assured of advancing.
Both Boyd and Diskerud, who combined for the United States' last-gasp equalizer in Russia on Nov. 14, started and played all 90 minutes for their respective teams. Diskerud earned a second-half yellow card for a foul.
