Herculez Gomez scored the opener for Santos Laguna in the 1-1 draw with Querétaro on Saturday.
The American international kicked things off in the Liga MX match a few minutes before halftime. Gomez busted open the offside trap to latch onto a long raking ball from Marc Crosas. The 30-year-old crisply rounded the goalkeeper and tucked home his shot.
Former Houston Dynamo striker Luis Angel Landin equalized midway through the second half. Diego Vera did the hard work, running over Felipe Baloy to win the ball, luring out the goalkeeper and centering for Landin to sweep home.
The goal, Gomez's third of the season, helped bump Santos up to fourth in Liga MX.
