thumbnail Hello,

Dempsey: The truth will come out soon

Last season's top goalscorer has refuted claims by manager Martin Jol that he withdrew from Saturday's matchday squad to face Norwich City to push an exit from the club

Clint Dempsey has hit out at claims that he has refused to play for Fulham in an attempt to force a move away from Craven Cottage.

Manager Martin Jol told the media on Friday that last season’s top goalscorer is keen to switch to a Champions League-chasing club and has subsquently withdrawn from Saturday's matchday squad to face Norwich City. However, Dempsey has seemingly rejected these assertions via his Twitter profile.

"There are two sides to the story," Dempsey wrote. "The truth will come out soon."

The 29-year-old's future has appeared to be up in the air ever since he was left out of the club's preseason tour of Switzerland last month, even though a source close to the player has denied the claim that he pulled out of the tour.
