Report: Burnley Join In Chase For Stuart Holden

Blackburn Rovers could have some EPL competition on its hands for U.S. international Stuart Holden in the shape of newly-promoted Burnley.

Interest for United States international Stuart Holden in the British Isles continues to heat up. The latest team to join the hunt is Premier League side Burnley, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Houston Dynamo midfielder is out of contract with Major League Soccer and has pursued several options abroad, including in Scotland, where he was born. Burnley's biggest opposition, however, will likely come from EPL side Blackburn Rovers.

Holden's British passport would relieve him of the need for a work permit, expediting the process tremendously.

In 2009 the 24-year-old broke into the Dynamo starting lineup and secured a handful of national team appearances and is likely headed to South Africa with the U.S. team.
