With the win over Honduras, the USA has booked passage to South Africa.
The odds seemed against an American win, because their road form had not looked well at all, and Honduras is always a tough venue for visiting teams.
Things were even more bleak for the USA side when Honduras notched the opening goal.
However, the tide then swung in favor of the Americans, and an unlikely hero was due most of the credit.
Conor Casey scored twice and helped the draw the foul that led to the winning goal by Landon Donovan.
