VIDEO: U.S. Team Prepared, Say Donovan, Bradley, Bocanegra
Goal.com's Luis Bueno was on hand for the press conference leading up to the qualifying match versus Costa Rica.
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- The busiest person at the U.S. team's press conference wasn't Landon Donovan, though the American forward had to answer a double share of questions in both Spanish and English.
Donovan's high school Spanish was tested at various points as a variety of Spanish language media pressed him to describe if the U.S. team's psyche was fragile due to never having won in Saprissa Stadium.
Yet the person who had the most do to was a newsperson whose microphone kept toppling over at the conference table, finally necessitating that he hold it to be sure to get all the words being spoken.
While no one would claim that he is an animated speaker, Princeton-educated U.S. coach Bob Bradley is articulate, and he parsed out the main challenges facing the team in the match versus Costa Rica easily.
While Donovan admitted that he was not present for the 2005 Costa Rica debacle, when the U.S. lost 3-0, U.S. captain Carlos Bocanegra acknowledged that the memories of that match were still bitter, but instructive.
Goal.com brings you the highlights of the press conference, edited to the most interesting answers.
Watch below to see what the three had to say about the difficulty of taking on Costa Rica in their fortress of Saprissa Stadium.
