Franko Signs with Sol of WPS
Canadian International Martina Franko becomes the seventh international player for the Los Angeles Sol.
The Los Angeles Sol has added a new player with the signing of Canadian International Martina Franko to a contract.
“Martina is an experienced leader who will bring a veteran presence to our young and diverse team,” said Head Coach Abner Rogers. “Her understanding of what it takes to be successful on the pitch will be invaluable to the success of our season.”
Franko played her college ball at Colorado College, where she still remains in the record books, ranking second all time for career points with 107. On the international stage, she has appeared 54 times for Canada and tallied five goals. Franko is also no stranger to women’s professional soccer. She played with the Vancouver Whitecaps, helping them to W-League Championships in 2004 and 2006.
Franko is now the seventh international player for the Sol. She joins Canadian National teammate Karina LeBlanc, Marta (Brazil), Aya Miyama (Japan). Jan Duan (China), Camille Abily (France) and Johanna Frisk (Sweden).
