Goal.com MLS Rankings: Chivas Demand Respect

In this week's Goal.com MLS Rankings, Kyle McCarthy believes Chivas USA are deserving of the top spot following another hard-fought match.

By Kyle McCarthy

1. Chivas USA
– Another respectable result for a team that seems to specialize in them. (2)

2. New England
– Is it a good sign for other teams when the Revs move up the rankings during an off weekend? (4)

3. Real Salt Lake – RSL might be the one team living up to its pre-season hype right now. (5)

4. Seattle – Chalk the Kansas City loss up to an unfortunate red card and some missed chances. (1)

5. Chicago – Fire coach Denis Hamlett needs to find a way to get Marco Pappa, Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Chris Rolfe on the field at the same time. Chicago looked well off the pace in the first half with Blanco and Rolfe on the sidelines. (3)

6. Kansas City
– Note to teams around the league: tell your defenders to step to Davy Arnaud when he shapes to shoot. (8)

7. Colorado
– Conor Casey might just miss some time during the summer if this sort of scoring form keeps up. (7)

8. D.C. United – Something doesn't feel right about United and I can't quite figure out what it is. (9)

9. Toronto FC – One good performance in Kansas City. Three blah performances after it. Which performance(s) represent the real TFC? (6)

10. San Jose – The Quakes sure are feast or famine going forward, aren't they? (11)

11. Columbus – Get healthy quickly, Robbie Rogers and Chad Marshall. (10)

12. Houston – The Dynamo needs better service from its wide players to compensate for the decreased creativity in the middle of the park. (12)

13. Los Angeles – Gregg Berhalter looks like a nice addition. Now about that midfield... (13)

14. FC Dallas – Dave van den Bergh said last week that his team needed one good result before it could get on a roll. They now have it after a 1-1 draw in Toronto. Will other results follow? (14)

15. New York
– Juan Carlos Osorio needed to set his team out negatively to obtain a point in Houston. But at some point, the Red Bulls will have to generate some offense. (15)
