Report: Christian Vieri Set For Los Angeles For Galaxy Trial?
Reports out of Italy indicate that a new adventure might await "Bobo" in the United States. But is MLS interested?
Former Atalanta, Inter, Milan and Juventus striker Christian Vieri has allegedly flown out to Los Angeles to have a trial with the Galaxy, just days after walking out on his current club, Atalanta.
The hitman mutally agreed to terminate his deal with the Bergamaschi last week following a lack of playing time this season. He is now said to be ready to try his hand in the MLS.
Chi magazine reports that the glitz and glamour lifestyle has appealed to the Italian as he tries to show the world that he can still cut the mustard in football. Voices suggest Vieri has already flown out to America as he looks for a new club.
However, a spokesman for the Galaxy has told Goal.com on Tuesday morning that the rumor is not true.
If Vieri does join a new club, it will be his 14th major club in a career which dates back to 1989, when he joined Prato on a professional contract.
Vieri made his name at Atalanta several years later and was snapped up by Juventus.
The much-traveled striker was then sold to Atletico Madrid before moving to Lazio, followed by Inter. He also enjoyed spells at Pisa, Ravenna, Fiorentina, Torino, Monaco and Venezia.
When reached by Goal.com, Vieri's agent declined to comment about this report that could see him become the fifth Italian to play in Major League Soccer, following in the footsteps of Walter Zenga and Roberto Donadoni.
