VIDEO: Keller – Donovan Ready for Munich Move
Kasey Keller believes Landon Donovan now has the correct mental outlook to succeed in Germany. Speaking exclusively to Goal.com, the former US international gave his take on Donovan’s possible Bayern Munich move.
Kasey Keller knows what it takes to succeed in the German Bundesliga. He
had a productive stint with Borussia Mönchengladbach, even captaining the squad
for a season, though that is unusual for a goalkeeper.
Possibly the next Yank to follow in Keller’s wake in Germany is Landon Donovan. The USA’s top international goal scorer previously had two spells at Munich’s rivals Bayer Leverkusen, but is now on trial at Bayern Munich. Keller believes this move could be different.
“The key for Landon is being in the right place mentally to be over there,” Keller said to Goal.com at the Honda Player of the Year event. “It’s very difficult when you’re young. I think he’s in a great spot now after the difficulties he went through after the World Cup and the criticism he got in that time of his career. He’s really put that behind him and had a fantastic 18 months.”
Then, revealing a heartfelt smile, he added: “I’m excited for him.” Watch the complete video here:
