40 Named To U.S. Youth Residency Program
U.S. under-17 coach Wilmer Cabrera named his player pool in anticipation for qualifying for the 2009 U-17 World Cup with the 40 players selected being put into the residency program.

Wilmer Cabrera, the coach of the US u-17 national team, has named the
40 players he wants to include in this semester’s residency program in
Bradenton, Florida.
“For us, it was important to find players from all over the country,” said Cabrera of the 40 selections all born 1992-94. “Whether they come from affiliated leagues or small clubs, we wanted to make sure to reach more cities and more players than before.”
Of the 40 players picked, 23 are returning residency members, while Cabrera, who has been at the helm since October 2007, selected 17 new faces. All the selections will be available to play in the qualifying for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The residency program, which has previously seen the likes of Landon Donovan, Damarcus Beasley, and Jozy Altidore take part, this year boasts 19 players from the U.S Soccer Development Academy. Below is a complete list of this year's players:
