Ching, Bocanegra Added to U.S. Roster for Barbados

Brian Ching and Carlos Bocanegra have been called in to the U.S. National Team to join the 19 players who were on hand for the 0-0 draw with Argentina on Sunday.

Houston Dynamo striker Brian Ching and Carlos Bocanegra have been added to the roster used by Bob Bradley against Argentina on Sunday to play for the U.S. National Team in a World Cup qualifying match against Barbados on Sunday.

Fresh off their 0-0 draw against the world’s top-ranked team on Sunday night in New Jersey, Bradley’s side arrived into Los Angeles on Monday and began training at The Home Depot Center on Tuesday.

Landon Donovan, who has scored seven goals in World Cup qualifiers, leads a total of 13 of the 21 players on the roster have experience in World Cup qualifying. Donovan became the fourth youngest player in men’s soccer history to reach 100 caps in the draw against Argentina.

Columbus Crew defender Frankie Hejduk, who has played in three World Cups, is entering his fourth qualifying campaign for the U.S.

Eight players on the roster have yet to play in a World Cup qualifier, including SC Heerenveen midfielder Michael Bradley, Benfica striker Freddy Adu, Toronto FC midfielder Maurice Edu and Hansa Rostock left back Heath Pearce.

During the last World Cup cycle, the Bruce Arena-coached side went 12-2-4 record with 10 shutouts. The Americans went undefeated (8-0-1) at home during qualifying, with all eight victories coming by shutout.

The only times that the U.S. and Barbados have played came in 2000 during the Semifinal Round of 2002 World Cup qualifying. The U.S. defeated the Caribbean nation 7-0 on August 16 in Foxborough, Mass., and 4-0 on November 15 in Barbados.
