Altidore Eager For First Team Opportunity
New Villarreal recruit Jozy Altidore has wasted no time in stating that he wants first team football in Spain...
The 18-year-old is on the verge of completing a $10m move to the Yellow Submarine, and it is in Spain that he wants to shine.
However, he knows that he'll only do so if he's given ample time to impress, and with Guiseppe Rossi and Nihat Kahveci to compete with for a striking position, that may not be easy.
With that in mind he may be willing to accept a move elsewhere, such as to Recreativo Huelva. 'Recre' often receive Villarreal starlets on loan - Martin Cáceres and Santi Cazorla, to name two - and Altidore would look to follow in their footsteps.
He told the press, “If I’m second choice I won’t be able to be involved as I want to.”
“As a consequence being loaned to another Spanish club wouldn’t be a bad idea, and I could develop more because I’m prepared to play there.
“It’s a very good league, probably the second best behind The Premier League.
“I like the way they play because it’s a good football and I think it’ll be the best place to express my football.”
