A rivalry that began almost four decades ago - and rebooted in 2013 – continues this Saturday, as Cosmos visit Rowdies for a second consecutive time in 2014. The Rowdies and the Cosmos are third and fourth respectively in the 2014 NASL Fall Season Standings and have league-leading San Antonio Scorpions on their minds going into Saturday’s game.
The Cosmos, who will be playing their second away match in seven days, are coming off a grueling 2-1 win against the host Atlanta Silverbacks which, after a three hour rain delay, ended at 1:30 am ET last week at Silverbacks Park. Meanwhile, Rowdies posted an exhilarating 4-3 road win over Carolina and will be looking to carry that momentum forward. The match will be also be on NASLLive.com.
Continuing Saturday’s Week-6 matches will be the Carolina Railhawks hosting FC Edmonton at 7:30 pm ET, which can be seen on NASLLive.com and heard locally on the Radio at 99.9HD-3 The Ticket. Having just lost in close matches, both teams will be looking to change their luck at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday.
Coming off the longest game this season, the Atlanta Silverbacks will be looking to get back to their winning ways on Saturday when they travel to face the Fort Lauderdale Strikers at Lockhart Stadium at 7:30 pm ET.
Silverbacks will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last week, while the Strikers want exactly that. A win at home will boost the fortunes of Fort Lauderdale in their quest for stay in the final position for ‘The Championship’ in the Combined Table. The match will be shown on NASLLive.com as well as locally on Sofloradio.com.
Saturday’s encounters conclude at unbeaten Minnesota United FC’s NSC Stadium when they take on Indy Eleven at 8 pm ET. The matchup can be followed on NASLLive.com and on local TV KSTC-45.
Indy, which has won two of its last three road games, will be looking to end Minnesota’s nine-game unbeaten streak. United, who are currently first in the Combined Table, will not make it easy as they have their eyes on unseating the Fall-Leading Scorpions from the top spot.
Rounding out Week 6 will be a Sunday encounter in Canada as Ottawa Fury FC host and the Scorpions at TD Place at 3 pm ET. The game will be broadcasted on NASLLive.com and locally on Rogers TV and TSN 1200 Radio.
Ottawa will look to end its four-game losing streak at home, while San Antonio, who trails the top spot of Combined Table a single point, looks to remain first in the Fall Standings.
