Spring Season 2014: NASL Team of Week 8

The New York Cosmos had a great week, placing three players on the NASL's top team of week 8.
The NASL Team of the Week is selected based on performances each weekend and features the best XI players in their respective positions.

Here is this week’s Best XI:


Jimmy Maurer, New York Cosmos – Earned a league-leading fifth shutout in the victory over Fort Lauderdale


Justin Davis, Minnesota United FC – Was key factor on the backline and assisted on the game-winner against Atlanta

Carlos Mendes, New York Cosmos – Had an impressive defensive performance in the shutout win at Fort Lauderdale

Mason Trafford, Ottawa Fury FC – Helped control defense and keep Edmonton off the scoreboard


Cesar Elizondo, Carolina RailHawks – Costa Rican dished out an assist for Carolina, while creating several other chances

Walter Restrepo, San Antonio Scorpions – Scored the game-winning goal and assisted on the first tally for San Antonio

Ty Shipalane, Carolina RailHawks – South African notched his second goal of the season in the victory over Tampa Bay

Danny Szetela, New York Cosmos – Was active defensively and controlled central midfield, while scoring New York’s third goal


Billy Forbes, San Antonio Scorpions – Turks & Caicos Islands international scored in his first start since joining San Antonio

Christian Ramirez, Minnesota United FC – Had his league-leading fifth goal, while adding an assist for Minnesota

Mike Grella, Carolina RailHawks – Scored the eventual game-winner to extend Carolina’s home unbeaten streak to 21 games
