CONCACAF Champions League Roundup: D.C. and Montreal win

Both Eastern Conference sides triumphed to make it three wins and a draw for MLS sides in the CCL this week.

D.C. United 1-0 Waterhouse FC

Eddie Johnson struck inside the opening 10 minutes to allow United to start its CCL campaign with a victory at RFK Stadium. Conor Shanosky drove a long ball over the top for David Estrada to chase down behind the Jamaican line. Estrada latched onto the accurate service and pulled back for Johnson -- the only regular included from the outset due to his recent two-match suspension from Major League Soccer play -- to slot home. United managed the game well and survived a late Waterhouse flurry to claim maximum points in its Group 4 debut.

C.D. FAS 2-3 Montreal Impact

This tumultuous affair carried its fair share of drama, but the Impact left San Salvador with the result required to arrange a straight fight with New York in Group 3. Andrés Romero and Marco Di Vaio staked the Impact to a dream start with their salvos inside the opening seven minutes. FAS drew a goal back through Jorge Moran before the interval and received the benefit of a suspect penalty call to equalize through Marcio Teurel six minutes after play resumed. Di Vaio then converted another peculiar penalty award just after the hour to give the MLS side a perfect six points from two matches. and FOX Soccer have teamed up to bring you the best in world soccer coverage.
