Jamaican head coach Theodore Whitmore congratulated Canada after the Canucks took a 1-0 win over his side in Gold Cup action. The game between the two sides kicked off the 2009 Gold Cup.

"I just want to congratulate Canada," said Whitmore. "I think they played a disciplined game this afternoon."

A goal from Ali Gerba decided the match, despite Jamaica having what looked like the more dangerous attack. Canada held firm, though, to preserve a clean sheet and the win.
