Real Madrid playmaker Kaka has stated he is not surprised to be omitted from Mano Menezes' Brazil squad ahead of the upcoming Copa America tournament.

The 29-year-old has endured a difficult campaign, making only 11 La Liga starts for Madrid in an injury-plagued campaign.

Kaka and Ronaldinho were left out of Brazil's squad for the recent friendlies against the Netherlands and Romania, leading the former AC Milan star to expect an omission from the Copa America squad.

"Honestly, I'm not surprised to not be included in the squad. I believe that at present, there are other players in better shape than I am," the attacker told Brazilian TV channel Band.

Kaka was in a positive mood, choosing to look towards the 2014 World Cup which is to be held in Brazil.

"Playing with Ganso, Lucas and Neymar will be like reconnecting with my friends...I hope this happens soon. Mano Menezes has talked to me twice and he left the door open. I spoke to him back in May and I hope to return soon," he added.

"The World Cup is the biggest event there is. To play in the [World] Cup at home is fantastic. I think we're a little late but it will happen, the stadiums will be happy. It will be a wonderful event in the country."

One player who did make Brazil's Copa America squad is Chelsea's energetic midfielder Ramires who has spoken of his joy at being selected for South America's showcase tournament.

"I'm happy to have the confidence of Mano Menezes and I'm honoured to have the opportunity to represent Brazil in the Copa America. This is a sign that I'm doing well. We expect to the reap the rewards soon," the midfielder told Brazilian reporters.

Unlike Kaka, the former Benfica man was selected for the recent friendlies against the Netherlands and Romania but was sent off against the Dutch, something Ramires is keen to put behind him.

"I know my responsibilities and I will make sure what happened against the Netherlands is not repeated in the competition. I think I paid for my excessive desire to help Brazil win and I will try to avoid it" he added.

"But what happened was unusual in my career. Anyone who follows my work knows I'm not and never have been unfair."

Brazil kick-off their Copa America campaign against Venezuela on July 3 in La Plata. The team's full Copa America squad can be seen by click here.
