The Colombia international is scheduled to return to Villarreal this summer but he is taking CEO Adriano Galliani's recent praise of his performances as a promising sign

AC Milan's on-loan defender Cristian Zapata has admitted that he is desperately hoping he will still be at San Siro next season.

The versatile centre-half joined the Rossoneri from parent club Villarreal last summer but he is scheduled to return to the Madrigal at the end of the current campaign.

However, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani recently expressed his satisfaction with Zapata's performances this season and the man himself is taking those comments as a sign that the Diavolo are now considering making his move permanent.

"I am very pleased that Galliani has praised me," the 26-year-old told Milan Channel.

"It means that I have done a good job and my goal now is to play in the Champions League [next season] and also aim for the Scudetto."

Zapata is also hoping that Allegri will also still be at Milan next season, amidst speculation that the former Cagliari boss could be sacked this summer.

"The boss has proven himself to be a great coach and while everything depends on the club, the coach has done a great job," the Colombia international enthused.

Milan will clinch third place in Serie A, and the Champions League berth that comes with it, should they defeat Siena away this weekend.
