Mexicans Abroad: Goals For Guille, Guardado

Goals by Guillermo Franco and Andres Guardado highlighted the action for Mexicans Abroad on the weekend.

Andres Guardado, Deportivo La Coruña (Marca)

The H1N1 virus threatened to take the attention away from other Mexicans Abroad as Rafa Marquez was feared to have come down with the virus. Instead, goals by Andres Guardado and Guillermo Franco highlighted the action for Mexicans playing across the globe.

Spain

Rafael Marquez (Barcelona)
- The defender opened the scoring in the midweek friendly against Bolivar where Barcelona won 4-1. He was then kept out of the squad for the game against Athletic Bilbao due to H1N1 fear as it has been discovered in the Barcelona squad. However, despite his absence during the weekend, Marquez was confirmed to not have it and should be ready for midweek Champions League action.  

Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruña)
- Guardado played all 90 minutes against Atletico Madrid and scored the last minute penalty that gave Deportivo all three points.  

Hugo Sanchez (Almeria)
- Almeria suffered a 3-1 loss against Mallorca.

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barca Atletic) - Because of absences in the main team, Dos Santos was included for the La Liga clash against Athletic Bilbao.

Juan Seguro (Real Union Club de Irun)
- Seguro was not called for the 3-0 loss against Murcia.  

Germany

Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart)
- Although Osorio is back from injury, he was not included on the team sheet for the 1-1 draw against Hertha Berlin.  

Italy

Miguel Layun (Atalanta)
- Layun traveled with the squad, but didn’t even make it onto the bench as Atalanta claimed a win against Siena 2-0.


Finland

Alberto Ramirez (FC Inter Turku)
- The season in Finland has concluded.

England

Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham Hotspurs)
- Dos Santos’ recovery time for his ankle injury has passed by, but the player wasn’t called to suit up for the 9-1 thrashing by Spurs against Wigan.  

Carlos Vela (Arsenal)
- Vela returned from injury to play in his first Premier League match of the season in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, Arsenal suffered a defeat to Sunderland, 1-0.  

Guillermo Franco (West Ham)
- Franco scored his second goal of the season by heading in West Ham’s first in the fifth minute. The striker then assisted in the Hammers’ second goal and played a total of 70 minutes, receiving a yellow card in the 62nd minute.  

Netherlands

Carlos Salcido (PSV)
- Salcido played all 90 minutes in the 4-0 win over Heracles Almelo.  

Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez (PSV)
- The defender was on the field for the entire games as PSV beat Heracles.  

Hector Moreno (AZ Alkaamar) - Moreno added 90 minutes to his tally in the 4-2 win against Roda JC.  

Hungary

Juan ‘Kichi’ Perez (FC Tatabanya)
- The team had no activity during the week.  

Ukraine

Nery Castillo (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk)
- Castillo was not considered for the 3-0 win over Illitchivets Mariupol.  

Ecuador

Carlos Moran (Cuenca)
- The goalkeeper made his way back into the starting line up in the 1-1 draw against Emelec.  

Peru

Rodolfo Espinoza (Club Universitario de Deportes)
- Did not play against Total Chalaco.  

Emmanuel Cerda (Club Universitario de Deportes)
- Cerda did feature in the 3-0 win over Total Chalaco.  

Nathanial Revetria (Sport Ancash on loan from River, Uruguay)
- Was not called on for the 1-0 win over Juan Aurich.  

Venezuela

Rodrigo Prieto (Caracas FC)
- Prieto entered the game in the 58th minute as Caracas stumbled in a 0-1 loss against Deportivo Italia.  

Colombia

Mario Garcia (Boyaca Chico FC)
- The team did not have any activity.
