Cruz Azul's Vela Out For Season

Alejandro Vela fractured his fibula during a CONCACAF Champions League match and is out for the remainder of the season.

Alejandro Vela has been ruled out for the remainder of the Apertura 2009 season after he fractured his fibula during a CONCACAF Champions League match in San Jose, Costa Rica on Tuesday.

In the 15th minute of Cruz Azul's 2-1 win over Saprissa, Vela challenged Saprissa's Kendall Watson and ultimately paid the price. Vela went down in immeidate pain and was removed from the match.

Vela has proven to be one of the team's most versatile and useful players. He has appeared in all 12 games this season, though only starting twice. He has registered one goal.
