Blanc: PSG wants to avoid Barcelona in Champions League draw

The former France boss is full of ambition following the Ligue 1 champion's impressive qualification for the knockout stages, but still hopes to steer clear of the Catalans.
Laurent Blanc believes that Paris Saint-Germain can go far in the Champions League as long as the club manages to avoid Barcelona in the round of 16.

The Ligue 1 champion beat Olympiakos 2-1 at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday to book its ticket for the knockout stages with a game to spare.

However, Blanc hopes to steer clear of the team that ended PSG's European ambitions in the quarterfinals last season.

"Our main goal was to win our group and reach the knockout stages and I am satisfied what we have achieved this," the World Cup winner told reporters. "Now we will have to await the draw for the round of 16 and we hope that we will not be paired with a great team like the one playing their home games in Catalunya [Barcelona].

"We can continue this adventure and go far if we avoid them for now. We are very ambitious, but I will not get carried away."

The draw for the round of 16 takes place in Nyon on December 16.
