The Bayern Munich winger says his team played with guts to pull off a remarkable turnaround against Ukraine in their World Cup playoff.Franck Ribery reveled in an "extraordinary" France performance after it sealed its place at World Cup 2014 with a 3-0 victory at home against Ukraine in the second leg of their World Cup playoff.
Les Bleus trailed 2-0 after the first leg and was on the brink of missing their its World Cup since 1994, but it produced a remarkable turnaround courtesy of strikes from Mamadou Sakho, Karim Benzema and an Oleg Gusev own goal to win 3-2 on aggregate.
Ribery said Didier Deschamps' men were dejected after their first-leg defeat but absolutely delighted when the final whistle went at the Stade de France on Tuesday.
"It's beautiful, amazing. We realized something extraordinary," the 30-year-old told TF1. "The fans have been with us. We suffered so much sorrow, and this is great, beautiful. It's been a long time since I have seen this kind of support at Stade de France. We had a good slap in Ukraine and tonight it was tense to the end.
"We are very happy, very happy to go to our clubs like this. This would have been difficult not to go to Brazil. We played with our guts and everyone had fun."
