If you believed reports in the media over the course of the summer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic's nomadic career was set to take another twist.

The arrival of Edinson Cavani had apparently put the striker's nose out of joint on the back of a season that had yielded 41 goals in all competitions and Paris Saint-Germain's first Ligue 1 title since 1994.

However, the 32-year-old put those rumors to bed by signing a contract extension until the summer of 2016 and then embarked on marking his territory with a string of sensational individual displays, culminating in last week's four-goal haul in les Parisiens' 5-0 thrashing of Anderlecht in the Champions League.

Goal's Alec Fenn gave the Sweden international a glowing endorsement: "Arsene Wenger claims Ibrahimovic is better than both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on current form and it's hard to disagree with the Arsenal boss.

His stunning acrobatic effort in the 4-0 win over Bastia left spectators and opposition defenders scratching their heads at another example of his ability to produce moments of spontaneous brilliance.

But his best was yet to come. On Wednesday, Ibrahimovic joined an elite group of players to have scored four goals in a Champions League game as he single handedly took apart Anderlecht in Belgium and showed why he is arguably the most in-form player in the world at present.

Congratulations to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Goal's 233rd World Player of the Week winner!
