Thiago Silva handed two-match ban

The 28-year-old will miss key games as his side bid to win the Ligue 1 title, while sporting director Leonardo is set for an even more severe punishment
Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has been issued with a two-match ban for pushing the referee during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Valenciennes.

The former AC Milan player was shown a straight red card after protesting Alexandre Castro's decision to award a goal kick, and his subsequent ban means he will play no part in the trip to Lyon on Sunday or the visit to Stade Brestois the following week.

It is understood PSG sporting director Leonardo is also facing up to a potential year-long suspension following a further offense on the same official in the aftermath of Sunday's draw. Leonardo has also been suspended from his role with the club by the French disciplinary committee until his next hearing on May 16.

Leonardo appeared to barge Castro in the tunnel at full time, and the incident could even result in the club being deducted points.
