'Zizou' has defended Real Madrid's pursuit of his compatriot.Real Madrid have spent €93 million on Cristiano Ronaldo and have not given up on adding Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich to their list of summer reinforcements.
The Frenchman has declared he would be delighted to move to the Santiago Bernabeu but the Bavarian club are doing everything within their power to prevent Ribery from leaving,
Zinedine Zidane, who is an adviser to Real president Florentino Perez, has now praised his compatriot, branding him the best player in the world.
"There are very good footballers in the world, like Cristiano Ronaldo or [Lionel] Messi, but the best for me is Ribery," he told ESPN. "And I am not saying that because he is French, but because he is very good."
Zidane has also explained that, regardless of who Real Madrid decide to buy, they should never be called 'Galacticos' again.
"The president of Real want the best players for his team, but he should not call them galacticos," he stated.
"I remember that we were called galacticos when [David] Beckham, [Luis] Figo, Ronaldo and I were playing and the result was very negative.
"People should say they are the best and that is it."
