Marseille Offer €13m For Real Madrid's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

The French side are upping the ante on the transfer front and have pinpointed the Dutchman as their next target.

French Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique Marseille are set to launch a €13m bid for Real Madrid forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, according to reports.

Huntelaar moved to the Bernabeu in January from Dutch side Ajax for a fee of €20m but, with the arrival of Karim Benzema in the past week, his opportunities are likely to be limited next season, and Europe’s top clubs have been put on alert regarding his availability.

Earlier today, Goal.com reported that Los Blancos had rejected a loan offer from AC Milan for the 25-year old, but a significant cash offer could see Perez consider moving the striker on to pastures new.

Marseille have smashed their own transfer record this weekend with the capture of midfielder Lucho Gonzalez from Porto for €18m, signalling their intent to clinch silverware next season under new coach Didier Deschamps.

Now French publication La Provence states that l'OM have set their sights on Huntelaar, as they look to challenge both domestically and in the Champions League.

Much may depend on the players’ willingness to move to France.

The Dutchman had a prolific goalscoring record during his time in Holland, netting 76 times in 92 domestic matches and, despite only making his debut for Real Madrid in February, he scored 8 times to help his side clinch second place in the La Liga table.
