In his latest entry for Goal.com, the U.S. international and FC Dallas star lists all the things that grind his gears, including chewing with your mouth open and Mexican food.
Hey Goal.com readers,Some of you might have seen me get a bit animated in FC Dallas' 1-0 win over New England. Everyone knows that I'm a southern gentleman but sometimes there are moments that can tick me off. Taking a cue from Family Guy's Peter Griffin, here are some things that really GRIND my gears:
- Sometimes when things aren't going my way on the field, that really grinds my gears. When I don't get the ball, I can get a bit frustrated.
- When people tell me to clean up my room and pick up after myself, that gets annoying. I don't live with my parents anymore so I can do what I want.
- I hate when people chew with their mouths open, that GRINDS my gears really bad.
Traveling around North America
One of the unique aspects of being an Major League Soccer player is all of the traveling around the country. Some people complain about the lengthy travel across the States but I don't mind it. Visiting different cities is a good experience, being able to catch with friends and family in different cities. If you have friends on other teams, it's cool to be able to check out where they live and chill in their areas.

I don't really have a favorite city but I really enjoy visiting Los Angeles and Portland. I also think Seattle is cool. Two cities I don't like are Columbus and Colorado because usually when we play at the homes of the Crew and Rapids, it's freezing. I have bad memories in those places.
The time we spend in each city depends on the trip. Sometimes we get to a city earlier to spend more time there. Usually, it's just a day to yourself but you try to rest up and get ready for the game. You might do one or two things but it's usually not a lot.
I usually like to walk around random malls. Some players enjoy the food of cities but I don't have a particular favorite. I can tell you which food I hate though.
I know this is weird coming from a Texan but I don't like Mexican food. I hate it in fact. That's pretty much it. I don't like any of it, but I can deal with chips and salsa. I guess it grinds my gears!
