In his latest blog entry for Goal.com, the U.S. international and FC Dallas star talks about sports fans in Dallas and around the world and his passion for painting.
Hey what's up Goal.com readers? It's Brek (@brekshea), glad to see that FC Dallas got back on track last night with a win. We didn't have a good game against D.C. United and we responded on Thursday. As I've said before, I think we have a very good team and we showed that this week. With us having the weekend off, I'm glad to have some fun over the next few days. HAPPY EASTER, can't wait to find my eggs haha.
Baseball is back and I'll admit I'm a Texas Rangers fan. I got tickets for Saturday's game so I'm excited to go during home opening weekend. The Rangers are a good team so it should be good to watch them play against the Chicago White Sox.
I'm a fan of all Dallas teams. I don't have a sport that I like more than the other and I'll go to a hockey game one week and maybe a few weeks later catch a Dallas Mavericks game. It's ironic because the first professional game I went to see was the Houston Astros with my parents.
Out of the teams in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, obviously the Cowboys have the biggest following. I'd even say the Cowboys have the most passionate fans in the country BUT let me remind everyone It isn't the best fan base I've seen in the world. That would go to Arsenal.

The fans there are intense and thing that you've got to remember about London is that there's seven or eight professional teams out there. Think about if there was seven NFL teams in one city and each fan base was equally passionate. For me, I thought it was really remarkable and I hope that one day that MLS fans can mimic that. Dallas has great fans but if I'm honest I wish more people would get into the chants!!
I have learned so much over the last 12 months and I have been through a lot. Its all been a learning experience and it has only made me better as a player and person.
You know, in my eyes 2011 wasn't good enough. I had a good five months but this season I really want to show that I can fulfill a full season. Just like everyone else I have goals and aspirations but in my eyes last year wasn't good enough, I want more.
To be honest, when things aren't going my way or our team isn't winning I often go to my studio and it allows me to free my mind and get away. At times there is a deeper meaning with my paintings, but to be honest, generally I just shoot from the top of my head. Usually I work with bright colors and if you have seen my website you can see some of the things I do. I have started to explore a couple new styles. Below, I've attached a photo of my family and I holding up an image of one of my paintings. Let me know your thoughts down below!
Talk to you guys soon!
