Voronin retires from international football

The former Liverpool striker has made the decision to hang up his boots and call time on his career with the Ukraine national team.
Andriy Voronin has opted to retire from international football to focus on playing for Dinamo Moscow after Ukraine bowed out of the tournament in the group stages.

The 32-year-old failed to score in Ukraine's brief tournament appearance, which saw Oleg Blokhin's men bow out last in Group D despite playing in front of their fans.

"I am leaving the Ukraine team. I took the decision in advance," Voronin told Sport.ua. "I have chosen to focus on a club career because I am not young enough to combine both roles."

Voronin has scored eight goals in 78 international appearances for his country.
