Evra: England played like Chelsea against Barcelona

The Manchester United defender was not amused with Rod Hodgson's negative approach to Monday's encounter in Donetsk as Samir Nasri's goal cancelled out Joleon Lescott's opener

Patrice Evra has voiced his opinion that England was as defensive as Chelsea in its Champions League tie versus Barcelona in Friday's Group D match against France.

Les Bleus had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their Euro 2012 opener after Samir Nasri levelled the scoring following Joleon Lescott's header, and Evra has voiced his frustration with the Three Lions' negative approach to the game.

"We are frustrated because I think we played much better. At times it was like there were 15 bodies in front of us. It was really difficult to find space," the left back stated to reporters.

"People laugh but they played the way that Chelsea played against Barcelona. Maybe the fans want England to play more football but if they win the tournament like that, they will be happy."

France resumes match action on Friday when it takes on co-host Ukraine, while England meets Sweden in its second game.
