Report: New Argentina Coach Sergio Batista Has Big Plans For The Albiceleste
Hours away from confirmation as Argentina coach, Sergio Batista plans a domestic Seleccion featuring Veron and Riquelme, amongst other ideas...

New Argentina coach Sergio Batista will make sweeping changes to the structure of the Seleccion and it's youth and 'B' sides, in an extensive project outlined to Argentine FA directors in Monday's meeting.
Ole reports that 'El Checho' met with team manager Carlos Bilardo and other selectors at the FA headquarters in Ezeiza, so that the soon-to-be permanent head coach could outline his plans for the future. Batista has still not been officially announced as the trainer, but as the only candidate the announcement - due this evening - is little more than a formality. The 1986 World Cup winner would be contracted until 2014, up to the next championships in neighbouring Brazil.
Among the former Under-20s and Olympic team guru's ideas were to form a fully-established domestic Seleccion, in which senior figures such as Juan Sebastian Veron and Juan Roman Riquelme would help mentor young talents such as Estudiantes' Enzo Perez and River Plate starlet Rogelio Funes Mori.
Also on the cards is the forming of a European-based second string or Under-25s outfit, which would give the chance for youngsters such as Franco Zuculini, Eduardo Salvio and Emiliano Insua a chance to shine in the Albiceleste colours.
