The Selecao boss also states he will make his 2014 World Cup team based on the Olympic squad, with the likes of David Luiz, Hulk and Diego Alves ready for selection
Brazil coach Mano Menezes has revealed that the three remaining Olympic ‘veteran’ places for players over the age of 23 will be completed by members of the squad selected for the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Switzerland on Tuesday.
The former Corinthians boss has left out the likes of Robinho, Kaka and Maicon, and predicts the squad picked for the Olympics will be influential for his 2014 World Cup squad.
"The three over-23 players going to the Olympics are here in Switzerland," explained Mano in Brazil’s prematch press conference.
The likes of David Luiz, Diego Alves and Hulk will all be fighting for a place at World Cup 2014, as Menezes reveals the Olympics squad will guide him to a final decision.
"The basis of the selection will be the team that goes to the Olympics," said the 49-year-old.
Brazil faces Bosnia and Herzegovina at the AFG Arena in St. Gallen on Tuesday evening with kickoff at 2:00 p.m. ET.
