El Tri's U-17 contingent looks to continue the defense of its World Cup title with a difficult semifinal match against the South American power.
El Tri overcame Brazil on Friday, drawing 1-1 through 120 minutes and winning an incredible penalty shootout 11-10.
Ivan Ochoa steered the ball in at the back post after a well-worked set piece to hand Mexico the lead in the 80th minute, but Brazil struck back five minutes from the end via Nathan.
Argentina defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 on Saturday to book its semifinal place.
Mexico’s U-17 side is still coached by Raul Gutierrez, who steered the team to a World Cup victory two years ago in Mexico, although the tournament didn’t start well in United Arab Emirates, with El Tri losing 6-1 to Nigeria in its opening match.
The other semifinal between Sweden and Nigeria will also take place on Tuesday.
