The finalists for Nike's The Chance competition were recently chosen from a starting pool over of 100,000. Among the last 16 chosen was one American, San Diego-native Brian Iloski.

Iloski, a talented midfielder was in Barcelona with the final 100 contestants and was chosen into the last 16, a group that will go on to train with the youth academies of Juventus, Manchester United and U.S. Soccer, among others.

“To the winners, I say a massive well done,” said Jimmy Gilligan, Head of the Nike Academy. “Out of 100,000 footballers who entered The Chance they are the top 16 and I am looking forward to working with each of them. They should enjoy the moment but there is still a lot of work to be done. We will be taking them on an incredible trip to play some of the best youth teams in the world.”

Staring their journey in January 2013, Iloski and the rest of The Chance finalists were announced at a gala dinner that included France legend Laurent Blanc as a special guest. The former Les Bleus manager lauded what Nike and the contest will do for the winners.

“These players have the talent to go forward and achieve their dreams," said Blanc. "The Chance has given these youngsters a unique opportunity and we may well see them in the professional game.”

The 16 players now have a chance to be noticed by some of the world's biggest clubs with the hopes of signing a professional contract.
