The results of this year's Goal 50 - an awards list which provides unparalleled insight into the game's highest achievers - will be announced later this month.
Goal 50 is our prestigious annual award that recognizes and ranks the world's 50 best footballers of the season.
Previous winners include Lionel Messi, Wesley Sneijder and the title holder Cristiano Ronaldo.
Voted by editors from Goal’s 36 editions representing more than 500 journalists, Goal 50 provides an unparalleled insight into the highest achievers in all positions and across all continents and unearths many of the future stars of the game.
Sulmaan Ahmad, Goal’s global editor-in-chief, said: "This year was the most open vote since 2010, due to the mix of outstanding teams and players this season -- often it was one or the other. What you can expect is a list rich with fantastic stories from the season, a few surprises, some players you won't have heard of before, and several global superstars who failed to make the 50."
Cristiano Ronaldo, after last year's triumph, said: "It’s a matter of pride for me to win this award, I would not have been able to do it without the support of my teammates."
Throughout July, we will be leading up to the award with a look back through previous winners, fans' votes of the best players of the season, best XIs and much more. Get involved in our Goal 50 section and keep in touch on Facebook and Twitter.
