The Argentina legend has shared his admiration for the Spaniard, Germany captain Philipp Lahm and the entertainment value of the Bundesliga.Diego Maradona says he would love to work with Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola and shadow him for a week at the Allianz Arena.
The Bavarians won the Bundesliga in record time last night after beating Hertha Berlin 3-1 and look well set for a bold attempt at repeating their treble-winning heroics of last season.
Argentina legend Maradona is a big admirer of Guardiola's work and says he has been taken aback by the development of German soccer in recent years.
"I'd love to work a week with Guardiola and visit him at Bayern, watch him work. I'd like that," the 53-year-old told Sport Bild. "Germany are as strong as ever and one of the favorites for the World Cup, that didn't change. But there is one difference: Today you can see great games in Germany.
"Football made a big step forward there. It's more entertaining and not only tackles and long balls anymore. German football is fun now."
Germany is among the favorites to win the World Cup in Brazil this summer, but Maradona fears the South American heat could be an issue, saying that "if they can't adapt to the climate, they'll just be a team like any other."
Maradona also took a moment to praise the play of Germany captain Philipp Lahm.
"Lahm is the embodiment of German football," he said. "He can play both wings and in the center. He distributes the balls and makes the diference."
