The Real Madrid coach says it will be good for La Liga to have the Argentine ace return to action after spending two months on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
The Argentina star has been absent since early November with a thigh injury but was named on the substitutes' bench for Wednesday's Copa del Rey meeting with Getafe.
Ancelotti believes his return will be a boost for the division as a whole but says it changes little with regards to his own side's endeavors.
"It's good for Barca to have Messi recovered, and it's good for the Spanish league to regain a player who has been very good and will continue to be," he told Sport. "For us, it improves the competition because, with Messi, Barca are Barca, and without they are another team. They've done very well without him and will do very well with him.
"It doesn't change much for us, we still hope to regain some points. If we win on Sunday, we will, because Atletico [Madrid] and Barca can't both win."
