thumbnail Hello,

The striker was ruled out of the clash at Etihad Stadium with a minor groin injury but is not expected to miss much time.

Manchester United star forward Robin van Persie was ruled out of Sunday's Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium with a groin injury, manager David Moyes confirmed prior to first kick.

The Dutch striker was replaced by Danny Welbeck, who partnered with Wayne Rooney against the Red Devils' city rival.

"It was a groin strain during the week," Moyes told Sky Sports. "We thought he'd be OK today, but not quite. Up to this morning we gave it every chance. He had a real opportunity of making it.

"It's nothing serious, it might keep him out for a few days. We don't think it's too bad."

Elsewhere on the United team sheet, Marouane Fellaini made his first start for United, while Shinji Kagawa remained a reserve option for Moyes.
