The Barcelona veteran believes his new teammate's strike against Atletico Madrid will help him find his way and was pleased with the final result of Wednesday's encounter.
The 21-year-old started Wednesday's first leg from the bench, but took the injured Lionel Messi's place at halftime and immediately made an impact for his new team, scoring an equalizer in the 66th minute.
"Neymar's goal was pretty important. It will give him confidence," Xavi told reporters after his side's draw.
The midfielder then went on to admit that Atletico caused Barca plenty of trouble, but hailed the importance of the away goal ahead of next week's return.
"Atletico are a strong rival and they defend really well," Xavi said. "We tried to do a good job both in the first and second half, but it was not easy. Toward the end we found more space.
"We tried to be patient and we managed to score a goal that will help us in the return leg."
The second leg takes place at Camp Nou on Aug. 28.
